Monserat Properties - Solving Operation Stack
Monserat Properties Ltd, established in 2000 by Dr. Rehan ul-Haq, is the fulcrum of a public policy campaign to enable a solution to Operation Stack, the parking of freight vehicles on the M20. A team of 18 experts have engineered a multilevel and multidimensional alliance between appropriate private and the public sector organisations.
Mr. Paul Carter, Leader of Kent County Council, supported by Kent Police and the Freight Haulage Association, announced in 2008 the decision to locate the permanent Operation Stack lorry park on the M20 at Sellindge-Evegate/Aldington, Ashford, Kent. This is an outcome of the campaign run by Monserat Properties Ltd.
The Kent County Council decision will allow trade and tourism with Europe to grow without the cost of Operation Stack which is estimated at £1Million per day to one company affected – P & 0 Ferries - an extrapolated estimate of £2 Billion per annum in congestion costs to British business.
